Ingredients
- 3 cups soft semolina
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 3/4 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Mahlab powder
- 1 teaspoon anise seeds powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups anise water warmed
- oil for frying
- Sugar Syrup

- 3 cups soft semolina
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 3/4 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Mahlab powder
- 1 teaspoon anise seeds powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups anise water warmed

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients, add the oil and mix and then add the water gradually and mix well until you have a soft dough.

Cover and let the mixture rest for 30 minutes, then start cutting and shaping. Use a cheese grater to make an imprint on the top for the design.

Heat oil at 200C (400F) and fry the dough, when golden, dip in sugar syrup for about one minute. Remove from syrup and plate to serve, hot or cold!
